Q: Who is Obie?
A: Obie Insurance exists to help customers reach their real estate investment goals by providing the right landlord insurance at the right price.
Q: What types of insurance does Obie offer?
A: Obie insurance agents sell landlord insurance policies to real estate investors looking for a traditional Dwelling Fire policy that may be needed for their secondary home or investment property, or a special form of insurance may be needed to cover additional structures on that property, renovations being done to the investment property, and more. These policy types include, but are not limited to:

Q: My property usage type has changed, or I believe I need a different type of insurance policy for my investment property. What should I do?
A: Please contact support@obieinsurance.com and someone would be happy to help you.
Q: How much does landlord insurance typically cost?
A: As a general rule, you can expect to pay about 15% to 25% more for landlord insurance than a standard homeowners insurance policy. Depending on the state, landlord insurance typically ranges from $800 to $3,000 per year. And, it is common in the current market to experience a rate increase on your policy each year, regardless of the insurance agent or carrier providing you with a policy. We encourage customers to anticipate receiving a rate increase ahead of their renewal.
Q: What are Obie’s payment options?
A: Paying for your real estate investment property insurance with Obie is similar to paying for your primary home insurance policy. Payments to the insurance carrier must be paid in full, either via a credit card or mailed check, or via the property’s mortgage company via an escrow account.
Q: Can I pay for my policy online?
A: Yes. Within 45 days ahead of your policy’s offered renewal date, you will be sent a renewal email with a link to pay your renewal premium amount. You can also call or email our support team to request a link.
Q: Can I mail my payment on the policy’s effective date? What address should I use?
A: Payments made via mail will not be accepted. The policy must be paid via ACH or credit card. Check payments are only allowed for escrowed policies and must be dated before the renewal effective date. The check must be from a legitimate financial institution, not a personal check.
